Cleared for Surgery!

Bob has been cleared for surgery! The orthopedic surgeons are happy with his x-rays and how his bones look. He has been scheduled for out-patient surgery to remove the hardware in his left hand NEXT WEEK. The right hand fracture we learned about recently appears to have healed very well along with the bones in his pelvis. Witnessing God’s design for shattered bone to ‘fill-in’ with calcium is astonishing. Bob still has some completely numb surface areas and the doctors started treating for possible nerve injuries since the pain is still present and at times extreme. Nine weeks ago, the surgeon told us he was installing hardware in his hand and it would be removed in a few months. At the time, follow-up surgery felt extremely far away but also not important as we were dealing with the immediate events and injuries. Now this date is around the corner and our hearts are holding on to this date being the ‘end.’ Although close to the other side, we are very much still in the middle of the healing and this journey. We desire to be right where God has us and fully present with the journey and the girls and our relationship and yet we feel a tug to be beyond it. Prayer requests: for surgery on Tuesday, continued healing, full restoration of his wrist and nerves and atrophied muscles, peace for our hearts to be fully present as we continue building back to our 'normal' little by little.
