Six Weeks after the Fall
This past week has been very full and encouraging. It included moving out of the hospital bed, several outings including Sophie’s basketball games (In the gym, his wheelchair gets him a front row seat), and water therapy in a swimming pool. Bob is healing well and has progressed in his mobility. He still uses the walker but has learned to use a cane and can take the stairs using only the handrails! He is absolutely thrilled to be more mobile but also acknowledges the limitations are not from his lack of willingness to heal…his body simply needs time…and as much time as it wants. Rushing the process can produce setbacks, when he does ‘too much’ he pays for it in pain. Overall, his spirits are good and daily he works to embrace where the Lord has him TODAY. In Psalm 32:8, The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” NLT Prayer requests: Grace is the word that comes to mind for all of us. Remembering we are still in the middle of this journey, there are moments when all of us feel as if it should be over…it has been six weeks after all…so living in a place of grace for ourselves and the process. Specifically, Bob as he waits for healing and also for middle of the night pain (the day time has become very manageable). For the girls, they still have busy lives coupled with limitations around daddy’s care. For me, to accept I can’t do it ALL and that is OKAY.
We are extremely grateful as we have been blessed with support and love beyond measure. Thank you!
