Daddy's home - Update Day 22 after Bob's Fall

(it's a long one) We have daddy at home!! Yesterday we moved him home. It was a big day wrapping things up at the hospital, getting him home and working out medical stuff. Yes it's a new season of challenges - the fall, initial trauma and being far from home was the first season, acute rehab and being close to home was the second and now being home and still in recovery. Yet, all of us are truly ready for him to be here. I already feel the relief of not having to split myself between the two worlds. Oh and I did come down with the cold but just in time to bring him home so I didn't miss a day at the hospital - Gods timing. Now Abby has a stuffy nose too. The highlight yesterday was dinner. A dear couple made us dinner and delivered just as my dad and Sophie were arriving home from her basketball game and my mom was returning from running an errand for us. Bob was so thrilled to have a meal around our table with the seven of us (complete with rearranged furniture to accommodate his chair). He said he had been eating alone for so long and pictured prayer together and food together and described to us, just from being here and having a meal with us, his pain had decreased to a '2' for the first time since the fall. (I'll post picture) Being home is going to be so great for his healing! None of us slept very well last night but this morning has been nice. Lindy gave herself the challenge of making French toast without leaving the wheelchair - it was a success. (Daddy has a view of the kitchen from his bed). And at the time of writing this I can hear music from the other room as Sophie plays the ukulele and Bob plays the flute to the tune of 'Here Comes the Sun.' (He says his digits aren't working too well) Fun memories. Milestones this week: two days ago he lifted his own legs off the bed and this morning for the first time he got them on the bed on his own, he feels fairly independent on the walker, plus stitches and original cast came off his wrist - all looks good (and kinda creepy). Other praises: the gift of AAA membership and pillows, meals, home healthcare nurse was an advocate for Bob this morning. Prayer requests: Bobs continued healing and he doesn't get this cold, medical/ins. stuff gets squared away (wow it's stressful), girls schedule and caring for daddy at home...their hearts are all very tender. It's an awesome privilege to watch God work through it all.
