So Much To Do
As November passes and December arrives, we find ourselves immersed in the Christmas season. We already have so many family obligations; but now, there is just 'so much more to do.' We have a constant internal struggle with these questions: Will we get it all done in time? Will we enjoy any of it? Will we notice God when checking our to-do lists?
After all this season is all about Jesus, right?
The Keepsake emails are meant to hand you a simple activity to keep your faith in Jesus at an exciting, alive place in your family. Not just one more thing to do.
Thinking of our telescope - and looking at God differently this week - means to see Him in places you might not have noticed. As a family (or as a couple if you have infants and toddlers), spend five minutes looking up verses in your bible or on biblegateway.com. Find five verses that use the word ‘see’ and perhaps grab your attention. Write the verses on separate pieces of paper and post them in unusual places throughout the house such as stuck to a piece of art, or on the washing machine's lid or even over the bathtub (perfect to read aloud when the kids are in the bath).
For this week, stop and read the words each time you pass them. At the week's end, take all the verses down because you don't want them to become ‘normal’ or not ‘seen’ anymore.
Too many times, when our lives are busy and full of so much to do, we miss noticing God. He is awesome and the provider and He is right in front of us all the time.
Some suggested verses:
Hebrews 11:3, 7, Acts 2:33, Romans 1:20, John 1:18, John 3:3
*This past year the families at Peachtree Presbyterian Church took the challenge together to look at choosing your faith in Jesus as a keepsake to be intentionally handed down to your kids. Part of that process included weekly emails to encourage bringing God into the center of our normal lives. These posts include some of those weekly emails and will continue as my Keepsake Token section. November trinket = telescope.
