Our Compass
He is our compass. He is our guide. He gave us Jesus to follow. There is a great song by Rob Biagi, titled I’m Followin’ Jesus, it begins with the lyrics:
On the road of life
There are two ways to go:
You can choose Abundant Life, or say,
“Whatever, dude – We’ll see how it goes…”
Then it repeats Im followin Jesus over and over and over…and over.
You get the picture.
How do we teach our kids following Jesus is the road to Abundant Life?
One step at a time.
This week let’s gather around for a meal or time of family ‘chatting.’ You will need one piece of paper, pen and Bible. Collectively, make a list of things Jesus did, stories He told, ways He treated people, and the instructions He gave. Start with things remembered and then to the bible flipping through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, jotting notes as you go. Spend 5-10 minutes focused ONLY on Jesus.
After the page is full, pause and thank God for this amazing example to follow in our Lord Jesus Christ. God designed the Bible as a spiritual map for our journey.
The Bible is our compass!
*This past year the families at Peachtree Presbyterian Church took the challenge together to look at choosing your faith in Jesus as a keepsake to be intentionally handed down to your kids. Part of that process included weekly emails to encourage bringing God into the center of our normal lives. These posts include some of those weekly emails and will continue as my Keepsake Token section.
